End of month progress - August 2014

Saturday, August 30, 2014

The month is coming to an end and summer is almost over. Change is in the air and it feels amazing. Summer in Georgia seems to last forever. The mornings start out cool and crisp while it gets hot and humid during the day. Halloween and fall decorations are starting to litter store shelves. Cinnamon brooms are hoarded near the entrances of stores, forcing that pungent spicy scent to burn your sinuses. Starbucks unveiled their pumpkinless pumpkin spice lattes earlier than usual. Yup, this is my favorite time of year. I am looking forward to it getting colder and Thanksgiving.

This month has been a bit rocky for me. I started off with an ulcer that left me with little to no energy to workout. Not to mention, I had to eat frequently so my stomach wouldn't be empty. No worries though, as soon as o started feeling better I got back in to kicking ass in my workouts. I didn't really bother with weighing myself much this month. I was pretty sure my progress wouldn't be where I wanted it to be. So I already set myself up for disappointment. I didn't eat as strict as I normally do, and just said fuck it. Staying within my calorie limit, of course. Lol.

Today I weighed myself and found out I lost 4lbs since my last weigh in. Which was at the beginning of the month. I am pretty proud of myself. Even though I didn't eat as strict, I still pushed myself to work out hard. Even on days I wasn't feeling like it. I met my first goal, to get under 200 lbs. Now it's time to finally push myself harder than I ever have. To get to as healthy as I possibly can. I wonder where I will be in my progress by the end of the year? I'm excited!

I felt like it was time for another photo progression photo. I'm very optimistic with the way things are going weighloss wise. I'm super close to where I was back in 2012! The difference this time is I feel like my body is a lot more lean than last time. In 2012 I focused a lot more on my diet and some workouts. This year I am waaay more focused on fitness. Seriously though, 3 to four hours a week of circuit training and weight training!? Peace of fucking cake!   On the weekends I tend to add in running or walking a couple of miles. This time around has been so much fun! It helps that my husband works out too. He's always been a skinny dude, with a very fast metabolism. This year he's put on close to 30 lbs of muscle and fat. What's weird is pretty soon we are going to meet up in weight. He's currently 180 something  and I'm close to 199. I'm interested to see what we look like at the same weight. Haha. Freaky.

He'll probably get mad that I posted this. Lol. First pic is in 2012 and the second one is in Early July this year!

Burpees... Yowza

Monday, August 18, 2014

So as each day, week, month passes by I have more energy to do more workouts. For awhile I was doing one round of circuit and weight training. Then after awhile I added a second round circuit.  The second round was just five to six minutes of jumping jacks and or 100 more pushups.

Today I switched it up and did  burpees and 15lb kettle bell swings. That shit was intense and I loved it. I have a feeling that I am going to be sore as hell tomorrow. I tried doing burpees in the past and couldn't push myself back up. Lol!  This time around I had so much energy and adrenaline that I surprised myself.  I look forward to trying new workouts I couldn't do in the past!

Beautiful Saturday at the farmer's market!

I won a 20 token credit for the local Forsyth Farmer's Market here in Savannah Georgia!  I was and still am pretty excited about it! Lol.  I just love the area and how friendly all the vendors are. If you are ever in Savannah or live in the area, you should definitely check it out. They have locally grown veggies, fruits, honey, coffee, sweets, pastas and bread!

With my 20$ in tokens, I got local honey, fresh focaccia bread and roasted pepper & ricotta ravioli!  Not really good diet food, but I couldn't help myself. Pasta and fresh bread are my weakness! It was amazing! So was the honey on the focaccia bread!

Yum yum

I was a little worried that my stomach ulcer slowed down my weight loss process. But I was wrong!
Drinking a ginger root beer zevia!

Turns out the "stomach virus" ended up being a stomach ulcer! Aye dios mio! I knew something was wrong, I started having intense stomach pains since I donated blood, which was the last week of July. Since then it got worse and worse. As stubborn as I am I didn't want to take any medicine. So I stopped consuming dairy (lactose free) all together, cut down on coffee, bought some cayenne liquid extract, ate alot of honey, and took vitamin e! BAM! stomach ulcer pain mostly gone! I don't have intense pain, just a dull sensation when my stomach is empty. I have a ton of energy today! I've been MIA for too long and I need to work my way back into my work out routine!

Saturday I had a lot of energy and I really needed to get out the house. My husband and I ended up going downtown Savannah and decided to walk around. We ended up walking a total of four miles!  All that walking inspired me to buy a pedometer the next day. Lol

I also randomly found out I'm allergic to cherries. ;_;
Fuck you cherries!
But that's okay, pumpkin flavored everything is coming. I have to be extra disciplined! No mas pan dulce! Well, maybe just half of one pumpkin scone from Starbucks!

This makes me nervous. O_O

After being MIA from working out for a week and a half, I am finally back! I did a quick workout this morning and instantly felt great. My stomach is still weak and my energy is low, but I felt great to get the endorphins flowing.

I joined the Walgreens fitness rewards program. Still not sure what will come out of it, but hey, can't hurt right? Lol.

I am finally down one pant size. I can fit into my size 12s now and it feels great. I am slightly annoyed because I have to buy new jeans now. I didn't really get to wear my nice jeans I bought on my Texas jeans for long. This is when consignment shopping comes in handy. Trade in my name brand 14's and get "new" Jeans.  :)

Here's more food porn!  :

Ginger Chicken with Rice noodles and lightly cooked veggies

Homemade JalapeƱo popcorn

Snazzy cookies that I didn't buy. They sounded delicious though!

I've always kicked myself in the ass for not recording progress of my arms in the past. I have always had insecurities about my arms, and really never cared about wearing tank tops in public. But I've been working really hard and I am extremely proud of my progress so far. I know I have posted some pics but I am uploading them again and today's picture for comparison.

Walking

Friday, August 19, 2011

Yesterday evening was a great evening to walk. This time we didn’t stray too far from home and we even walked out 6 year old Chihuahua, Gizmo. Again we cut off into trails in the woods. It was amazing. You could hear small birds with big songs, hopping from tree to tree in the pine and oak canopies. I brought my camera this time to get fantastic shots, but as I turned the camera to get my first shot, the batteries died. Do’oh! I really need to check these kinds of things before I leave the house. Lol.

I didn’t notice how sore I was from the day before until I started to jog a bit. Everything from my mid torso to my calves was a little tight. I took it easy, because I didn’t want to push my luck and feel like complete and utter shit the next day. I am crazy about the weather in the evenings, low humidity and in the mid to upper 70’s. A welcome break from the insanely high humidity and uppers 90’s. Whew, summer time in the south is murder. This however is my favorite time of year. I love how the seasons change. You can just feel in the air that fall is slowly approaching. The position of the sun triggers nostalgia. It’s just the perfect time to get back on track and take charge of my life again. Right now, I am not really concerned about losing a whole mess of weight; I am more concerned about feeling better and eating right. If anything weight loss is a perk. It just really really feels good to cut out gluten and working on getting sugar out my life again.

I found out yesterday that one of my aunts have colon cancer. This is devastating to me! I just wish I could be back home in Texas right now. I just really hate being so far away and knowing so little. Hopefully my trip back to Texas will come sooner than later.
